While I thank those friends who have congratulated me on my alma mater, Oklahoma, being voted the number 1 college football team in the land, the truth of the matter is that it doesn’t mean anything. In fact, it would probably be better if the Sooners had not been elevated to the top spot. Now, they will have a bulls eye target on their backs as every opponent will be even more determined to beat OU. If no one goes undefeated, the key to whether a team is in the hunt for a national title is determined by when it lost a game. The earlier the better. That is why USC is not out of the picture despite its devastating loss at Oregon State. The Trojans are rated number 9 this week. How can a team like the Beavers which lost by 31 at Penn State turn it around and hold the Trojans to three first downs and 75 total yards in the first half? Continue Reading
